Angel Food Host Director
Elder: Deacon: Ryan Noble Mission: There is a two fold mission: 1. To reach out to people in the community to form relationships and offer the Gospel to those seeking a relationship with Christ. 2. To raise the profile of Jericho Church of Christ in the community showing others that we love them and want to help them with their needs. Functions: 1. Communicate and coordinate all activities with others involved in leading this activity. 2. Review and be familiar with Angel Food ministry and procedures as presented on the www.angelfood.org and the tutorials at www.angelfood.net. Note monthly distribution schedule for entire year to plan accordingly. 3. Learn how to take all types of orders manually and by computer interface and how to ransmit the final order for the month through www.angelfood.net.. 4. Review all communications from Angel Food and apply them as needed into the process in place at Jericho. 5. Call General Meetings once or twice each year for all volunteers and those interested in becoming involved to stimulate the ministry, to learn what is going well and what can be improved upon. 6. Maintain and manage the volunteer pool. a. Coordinate with individual(s) responsible for transport of all the Angel Food orders to the Fellowship Building for distribution. b. Maintain the volunteers “Sign Up” sheets on the bulletin board in the hallway. c. Monitor volunteer sign ups making sure all order times are manned by trained volunteers and that there are sufficient number of volunteers to do distribution on Distribution Day (D-Day) d. Place notices in the bulletin asking for volunteers to sign up if order times or D-Day slots are not filled. e. A day or two before an order time and D-Day, make reminder calls to folks who have signed up to work and thank them for their service. f. Recruit new volunteers to keep the volunteer pool refreshed by personal contact, follow-up on referrals and others new to the church or those that have not been involved in the past. 7. Manage Ordering and D-Day operations [ensure a “manager” is on site for D-Day]. a. Confirm advertising in Davie Enterprise and availability of current monthly menu with responsible person [currently Kathy Crotts]. b. Coordinate with responsible person [currently Terry Stempfer] after the last day of ordering for the month so that all needed materials are at the Fellowship Hall by 8:30 AM on D-Day. c. Arrive at the Fellowship Hall by 8:00 AM on D-Day to make sure the tables are arranged appropriately for distribution and to set up the office laptop and printer for taking orders during distribution. d. Adjust thermostat in Fellowhip Hall to 60 degrees to keep frozen items from thawing. e. Place labels on the tables to show the Transportation volunteers the location and order of food items for unloading from vehicle. f. Assign volunteers to the various D-Day tasks: - Registration - Re-ordering - Manning the general tables - Manning the specials table - Have 1 or 2 able bodied persons to help customers collect and carry their orders out. - Call customers to remind them if orders are not filled within 30 minutes of closing time. 8. Lead a prayer for the day’s activities and for the people who come in. 9. Standby to troubleshoot any issues that may occur, for example: - Performing any of the tasks in 7.e above - Computer issues - Order errors - Shortages of items ordered 10. Wrap up - Collapse all boxes and place them in the Fellowship Hall foyer. - Discard all trash. - Return and set up computer and printer back in the office. - Return tables and chairs to their normal places. - Ensure all doors are locked and alarm system is reset.
